Oddstøl Elektronikk has installed wireless communication between the fishing station Grip and Kristiansund, and heat camera for fire watching.
The island Grip, which lies 14 km out to sea west of Kristiansund, has recently gone through significant investments to secure its characteristic buildings, including the old stave church.
The project was divided into several parts, where Oddstøl Elektronikk was responsible of installing wireless communication between Grip and Kristiansund, and with further data transfer to the Kristiansund fire department. We have installed a NERA 18GHZ link for this purpose. Due to extreme weather conditions during the winter, installing and securing the antenna was a challenge. These problems were solved in a good manner. Information is via fiber transferred from our receiver in Kristiansund to the fire department, which monitors the fishing station.
We were also in charge of supplying heat cameras for fire watching. These are cameras of particularly high quality. They detect changes in temperature, and sound alarms on the mainland depending on predefined values. Accuracy while installing and calibrating the cameras is crucial here as well.
To see what the weather conditions are like on Grip, we installed a weather station and a dome camera that give us a read on temperature, wind etc, and also a live view of the conditions on the island. The delivered installations are protected so that normal surveillance is prohibited. This is for professional use only.
All information, whether it comes from the fire detection installations in the buildings, heat camera, energy supply or fire extinguishers, are transferred and controlled by our installations.
